From a book titled .. (Don’t Complain) By Ali Almawali
A chapter on death, and a detailed discussion of what death is from an Islamic perspective.
Death is a knot of man that he did not know how to get rid of!
Warrior break!
Before I understood the meaning of death and its causes, I used to see myself as one of the numbers that lose their place in life to be replaced by one of the new numbers that enter the list of the living from the new-born’s, guests of the world, and that my number will fall from the list of the living to move to the list of the dead and end my simple story in life.
A sad story of a person who wrote the lines of his life in the file of daily memories will die in memory with the death of man himself and remain temporary in the memory of partners in life until forgotten by the fall of the numbers of partners from the list of neighbourhood’s!
It took me a lot to understand the true meaning of death, like nations like me, who are terrified and rejected by death because they do not know that the world of death is a transition from state to state, from place to place, from time to time, from where we all presented from the same source, a real world that we must accept because no other source has been proven by reason and understanding to prove the opposite of what has been proven throughout history to be our true source.
I remember that during my journey through life over the years, whenever I encounter myself in the mirror, I say how did I get to the shape I am now?
From childhood to youth to manhood and then to old age and then to the knowledge of God Almighty, perhaps among the few who committed the houses of God and dispensed with His Holy Book from others, or perhaps to the age in one of the nursing homes punished as the punishment of children when they play with water on the road, and perhaps it is your misfortune to fall on you to say and write your end in the famous hospice that terrifies the hearts of the elderly!
In a return to talk about death and in any case, it is certain that I will not be ready as I wish when the hour comes, and when I am in direct confrontation with death, although I think I tried and still try to be prepared and stable nerves and perhaps I will then be in a state of reassurance of heart and soul, or perhaps this talk will be just talk far from reality and the truth because the fact of death is never fun nor blind confidence in the safe exit from life nor manhood Although death is a right and departure is inevitable!
What I have succeeded in most with the help of God is to restrict the desires of this ill-wisher soul that longs to enjoy everything in life, east and west, long and wide, without controls or law, and that I am aware that once you allow it to get used to desires and addiction, it will be difficult for you to get out of its mud and swamp safe and healthy and you will remain captive to all the scenes and images that accompany the stories of desires and their practice.
On the way to the exit gate, you are accompanied by many names, stories and tales from the heart of life, which walk with you side by side and remind you not to forget the day of departure and that you should prepare for that day and not be tempted by life and not taken by its lights, temptations and fake offers.
What helped me the most is that sense of tranquility that I found in the depths of myself that I took the right path, which is always reflected on the best choice and chose this path with satisfaction just because he feels strong in front of sins and that he has to repel their influence and temptation, and above it that I leave these sins for a greater and more honorable goal, which is obedience to the face of my forgiving and merciful Lord, And that I gained with her a pure conscience does not reproach me day and night and do not feel with him that I am overwhelmed by the multitude of sins and accumulation and lack of ability on myself and that I am a prisoner of her play me and drop me on every vice, and did not make me a person indifferent to anything as is the drowned who does not fear wetness says that he is dead in sins and has no salvation and so is the one whose conscience died and died himself from the multitude of sins.
Glory be to the one who helped me alone to put my feet on the right path and to be the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him the source of work and energy and every positive action brings me closer to God and in which the good all the good for myself first and then for everyone who was put by God Almighty in my way to guide me to every benefit and alert me to every harm, and the best of what I came out with as a testimony testifying to my monotheism to God Almighty and prove my identity A humble book that carries messages of goodness and to him praise and thanks alone that he wrote that book light and it is My first book (who knew himself knew God), and today I am close to the completion of this book, which I ask God Almighty to write his acceptance book (Do not complain).as a testimony testifying to my monotheism to God Almighty and prove my identity A humble book that carries messages of goodness and praise and thanks alone that wrote that book light which is my first book (who knew himself knew God), and today I am close to completing this book, which I ask God Almighty to write his acceptance book (Do not complain)
Talking about death is the talk that only those whose roots stretch out in the heart of the world desire, even though they know that death will one day take it off,
Talking about death is the hadith that reassures the hearts of the believers, they know that it is the truth and they desire it in order to ensure their end and what will do to them on the day they stand in the hands of their Lord and Creator, and in both cases between those who want this hadith and those who want it, they are helpless for all of them, so when the order comes to leave the soul is an order from her Lord, so she does not ask permission from anyone to leave his body, it is an order from the order of her Lord, and the time of her departure has come.
There are many reasons and death is one and below that only stories and tales about death and all the question marks accompany these stories mixed with the conversations of people and they have nothing to do with them, not even the right to question or answer other than surrendering to the judgment of their Lord!
As much as every man hides in his depth his fear, ignorance and helplessness, he can only live until the hour is there, and the hour has its time and the minor hour of man is when it comes to the return of the soul to the command of its Lord.
All that man asked about and collected and classified about this unknown world the world of death is only drops in the sea of divine sciences that may not have been shown to them as a mercy to them, and in order not to increase their confusion and fear, let them write their stories and understand stories that do not talk only about the stories of the dead and spirits and the relationship of the living with the dead, but they remain stories from a strange world in which they find nothing but consolation for them.
I read the sayings of the scholars, including that the soul remains hovering around its house to check on its people, and all of them are transmitted stories, but what is true about the conditions of the dead are honorable hadiths that we mention:
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When a believer comes, the angels of mercy come with white silk and they say: ‘Go out, satisfied with you, to the Spirit of Allah and Rihan, and a Lord who is not angry, and it will come out like the best wind of musk, so that they may deal with it with each other until they bring it to the gates of heaven.’ And they will bring the souls of the believers through him.
They are more happy with him than one of you when he is absent and they ask him, “What has so and so done?” What did so-and-so do?
They will say, “Let him, for he was in the midst of this world.”
And they will say, ‘He died, have I not come to you?’
They said: He took him to his mother Hades.
If the disbeliever is dying, the angels of torment come to him with a wipe, and they say: Go out indignantly and be angry with you to the torment of God Almighty, and you will come out like a carrion wind until they bring him the door of the earth, and they will say: What are you this wind! until they bring him the souls of the disbelievers.”
They say: He has gone to an abyss, and if the disbeliever is dying, the angels of torment will come to him with a wipe, and they will say: Go out indignant and angry with you to the punishment of Allah – the Almighty – and you will come out like a carrion wind until they bring him to the gate of the earth and they will say: What are you this wind? so that the souls of the infidels may bring him. Narrated by Ahmad and al-Nasaa’i.
In other fatwas related to the dead, those who ask the people of knowledge about peace on his deceased mother visit her grave and greet her: The fatwa came that there is no objection to greeting your mother when visiting her grave and saying, O Flana daughter of so-and-so, I am your son so-and-so, and peace will respond to you, and feel your visit to her, and this is what was stated in the major fatwas of Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah: – With regard to the knowledge of the deceased in the living if he visits him and greets him,
(In the hadith of Ibn ‘Abbas he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: No one who passes by the grave of his believing brother knew him in this world and greeted him, except he knew him, and peace be upon him replied). Ibn al-Mubarak said: This was proven from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and it was corrected by ‘Abd al-Haqq, the owner of the rulings. All over.
The scholar Ibn al-Qayyim spoke about this issue in his book (The Spirit) and he stated: Do the dead know how to visit the living and their peace or not?
Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr said that it is proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No Muslim who passes by the grave of his brother whom he knew in this world will greet him except that Allaah will return his soul to him until peace be upon him.”
In the two Sahihs about him in many ways that he ordered the deaths of Badr, they were thrown into Qulib, and then he came until he stood on them and called them by their names: “O so-and-so, son of so-and-so, and O so-and-so, have you really found what your Lord promised you? I have found what my Lord has truly promised me.”
‘Umar said to him, “O Messenger of Allah, whatever people you are talking to have dried up!
He said, “He who sent me the truth is that you do not hear what I say from them, but they cannot answer.”
It is proven from him (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that the deceased hears the knocking of the slippers of those who mourn him if they turn away from him.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) legislated for his nation, if they greet the people of the graves, to greet them with the peace of those who address him, and he says: Peace be upon you is the home of the people of believers, and this is a speech for those who hear and reason, otherwise this speech would have been the status of the speech of the destitute and the inanimate object, and the predecessors are unanimous on this and the effects have been repeated about them that the deceased knows the visit of the living to him and is encouraged by him.
Abu Bakr ‘Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Ubayd ibn Abi al-Dunya said in Kitab al-Qabur: Chapter on Knowing the Dead by Visiting the Living: Yahya ibn Yaman narrated to us from ‘Abdullah ibn Samaan from Zayd ibn Aslam from ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No man visits his brother’s grave and sits with him unless he is guided by him and responds to him until he rises.”
Muhammad ibn Qudamah al-Jawhari told us Maan ibn ‘Issa al-Qazzaz told us Hisham ibn Sa’d told us Zaid ibn Aslam told us from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: If a man passes by the grave of his brother he knows and he will greet him and he will be recognised and he will know him, and if he passes by a grave that he does not know, he will be greeted and peace be upon him.
Muhammad ibn al-Husayn told me Yahya ibn Bastam al-Asghar told me a man from the family of Asim al-Jahdari told me: I saw Asma al-Jahdari in my dream two years after his death and I said: Isn’t she dead? He said, “Yes,” I said, “Where are you?”
He said: I and Allah are in a kindergarten of Paradise, I and some of my companions meet every Friday night and its morning to Bakr bin Abdullah Al-Muzni and we receive your news,
He said: I said: Your bodies or your souls?
He said: “Bodies are blown away, but spirits meet,” he said, “I said, ‘Do you know that we have visited you?’
He said: Yes, we know about it on the eve of Friday and on Saturday until sunrise, he said: I said, how can that be without all the days? He said: For the virtue and greatness of Friday.
Hamad bin Al-Hussein told us, Bakr bin Muhammad told us, Hassan Al-Qassab said: I used to go with Muhammad bin Wasa every Saturday until we came to the coward, so we stood on the graves, greeted them, called for them and then left, and I said: One day, if this day became Monday, he said: I was informed that the dead know about their visitors on Friday and the day before and the day after.
The Prophet taught his nation, if they visited the graves, to say: “Peace be upon you, the people of the homeland, believers and Muslims, and I hopefully you later, may God have mercy on those who are brought from us and from you, and those who are late, we ask God for us and for you wellness.”
This peace, discourse and call to those who hear, speak, reason, and respond if the Muslim does not hear the response, and if a man prays close to them, they see him, teach his prayer, and be pleased with that.
He said: And these hypocrites, even if they are not valid in their abstract to prove such things, are numerous, and that they are counted only by Allah, have colluded in this sense.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I see that your vision has colluded as being in the last ten days. It means: the Night of Power.”
If the vision of the believers colluded on something that was like the complicity of their narration of it and the complicity of their opinion on its intolerance and reception, and what the Muslims saw is good, it is with God good, and what they saw ugly is with God ugly on I did not prove this just by seeing, but by what we mentioned of arguments and others.
He said: It has been proven in the Saheeh that the deceased is domesticated by mourners for his funeral after his burial Muslim narrated in his Saheeh from the hadith of ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Shammasa al-Mahri who said: Amr ibn al-‘As attended us in the context of death, and he cried for a long time and turned his face to the wall, so he made his son say: What are you crying about, Father? As for the Messenger of Allah preaching this, he kissed his face, and he said: The best thing to prepare is the testimony that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and that I am on three plates… Then he mentioned the hadith, in which he says: If I die, do not be accompanied by a wail or fire, and if you bury me, they will be on the dirt for a tooth, and then set up around my grave as much as carrots are sacrificed, and their flesh will be divided so that I may become domesticated with you, and see what I refer to the messengers of my Lord, and then he said: It indicates that the deceased is domesticated by those present at his grave, and is pleased with them.
It was reported from a group of predecessors that they recommended that it be read at their graves at the time of burial, Abdul Haq narrated that Abdullah bin Omar ordered to read at his grave Surat Al-Baqarah, and said: This is also evidenced by what was done by the work of people in the past, and until now from the indoctrination of the deceased in his grave, and if it were not for the fact that he hears it and benefits from it, there was no benefit, and it was in vain. Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about him, and he recommended him and protested against him by doing.
This is a summary of the stories related to death selected from the book (The Spirit) by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya (may Allah have mercy on him).

– Ibn Abi al-Dunya reported that Ahmad ibn Abi al-Hawari said: My brother Muhammad told me: ‘Abbad ibn ‘Abbad entered upon Ibrahim ibn Salih while he was on Palestine, and he said: ‘Aa’azni, he said: ‘What shall I preach to you, may Allah fix you?’ I was informed that the deeds of the living are offered to their dead relatives, so see what is offered to the Messenger of Allah of your work, and Ibrahim wept until his beard was cut.
– Al-Hasan ibn al-Sabah al-Za’farani said: I asked al-Shaafa’i (may Allah be pleased with him) about reading at the grave, and he said: It is fine.
He said: ‘Abd al-Haqq narrated that some of the righteous said: A brother of mine died, and I saw him in sleep and I said: O brother, what was the situation when you were placed in your grave? He said: He came to me with a shooting star of fire, but for the fact that a caller called for perishing.

And Allah Almighty, the responsible who is in charge, the answer is to make our souls reassured by Him, working with their energy on Him, a nun of Him, desiring what He has, and to protect us from the evils of ourselves and the evils of our deeds.
